What Is a Creator First Buy?

A creator first buy is an optional purchase made by the creator as part of or immediately after launching a new token.

Why launch flows offer it

It can let the creator become an initial holder without racing a separate transaction after the market opens.

Atomic execution

In an atomic design, liquidity creation and the first buy happen inside one wallet transaction. If the buy cannot execute under the required conditions, the entire launch reverts.

It is still a trade

The first buy should have a real amount, output expectation and slippage protection. It is not a hidden allocation or free token grant.

Transparency

The resulting transfer and swap should be visible in the launch transaction or immediately linked transaction history.

How to verify the mechanism in practice

Start from the token contract and follow the launch transaction rather than relying on a dashboard label. The transaction logs usually reveal the contracts that received assets, the pool that was initialized and the transfers that created the market. For concentrated-liquidity pools, also inspect the position manager and position owner. For bonding launches, inspect the curve contract and the state or event that defines graduation.

When a wallet predicts a revert, do not treat the warning as cosmetic. Gas estimation and simulation can expose a wrong router ABI, invalid tick, insufficient allowance, expired deadline, impossible minimum output or another contract-level condition. Cancel the transaction, reproduce it with the same calldata using an RPC simulation, and decode the revert before trying again.

Mechanism checklist

  • Confirm the exact chain and contract addresses.
  • Separate token valuation from real pool liquidity.
  • Identify who owns or locks the LP asset.
  • Check the fee tier and fee recipients.
  • Inspect minimum-output or deadline protections where relevant.
  • Use explorer events to confirm that the interface matches onchain state.
